Born in England, Kate grew up in the Middle East and Africa, returning to the UK when she was 15 and moved to Australia at 21.
Always fascinated by her Grandmother’s collection of Victorian jewellery, which started a life long interest in jewellery, she started taking courses in Silversmithing in the UK during the 1980’s. Woking with a jeweller in Byron Bay taught Kate how to hand knot beads, and studying at the McGregor Summer School enabled Kate to experiment with metal textures and patination to develop her distinctive style and techniques.
Kate now works from her studio at home in the Kuranda Rainforest.
