Buck Richardson

Buck Richardson has been active across many creative media since arriving in Tropical North Queensland over 3 decades ago. – photography, graphic art, textile printing, writing, publishing, and theatre. In recent years he has gained prominence as a digital artist winning many awards. Buck’s visual work is chiefly influenced by his love of the natural beauty that abounds in Queensland, from the monumental to the minuscule. Current work in digital art uses photographs and digital media of people, landscapes, flora and fauna taken in the tropical region and other parts of Queensland.

Buck has been a winner in the Queensland Regional Art Awards on two occasions (2014 and 2016). He has also been a winner in Cardwell, Innisfail, Mareeba and Cairns (2014-2017). On two occasions Buck has been commissioned for ephemeral sculptural works for Esplanart at the Cairns Festival (2010 and 2012) and also for the Cairns Changing Lanes project in 2013. Buck’s work has been exhibited in many group shows in recent years including at the Johor Bhara International Art Festival in Malaysia in 2016. Two recent solo shows, Cairns Centre of Contemporary Arts (2015) and Brunswick Street Gallery in Melbourne (2016), were enthusiastically received.
Buck was recently selected as a semifinalist in the National Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize.
