Laying out merino wool tops, adding soapy water and gently massaging, soothes my Soul
Evidence of Felting dates back 3500 years to Early Bronze Age and continued around the World throughout history, Felt Making is an Ancient Art Form
Felt Making for me began in the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains NSW, so much inspiration from the surrounding bush with unique warm rustic colours
I made the move to Kuranda, Far North Queensland’s World Heritage listed Wet Tropics where I can create new exciting Felt Work, inspired by the colours and shapes of the oldest Rainforest in the world.
I choose to use Australian Grown Wool from soft superfine merino for projects that touch the skin to blends of Perendale, Border Leicester , Corriedale and Suffolk with higher microns for structure of vessels and ornamental pieces
Much of the wool tops, yarn and embellishments I use, have been sourced direct from sheep farms or artists galleries on my travels throughout Australia
